SUPER MONO

December 17th, 2011 by admin

Our good buddy Nigel of Houston Cycles fame popped in to the store to show us his latest creation. This super light weight race bike is an impressive machine for sure. In its debut race Nigel was in front by so much that he was left thinking ” did I cheat or something?”, No Nige you are just a bad ass! This bike has a 150 cc engiine and only weighs in a 60 kgs! Expect to see more of these Super Mono projects around in the future. Legendary man indeed.

Nigel strated it up out the front of the shop and this thing sounds incredible……. sign me up, I think I need one.

FLY GUYS PART 3

December 16th, 2011 by Tom

Fly just keep on hammering out the good stuff. Just when I thought all my pre Christmas stock had arrived, this giant box of Fly parts arrives. To say the box was full of bicycle pornography would be an understatement. Fly really know how to impress a guy!

The Fly Zapatas brake pads still have the most entertaining name of any product in BMX and luckily for them they are still the raddest brake pads out there.

The Piramide is the new affordable, light and strong rims from Flybikes. The pyramidal structure is designed to be very strong. They are triple pinned to save you a little dinero while maintaining strength at the joint. As well as being cheap light and strong the also look amazing! There are two options to choose from: the Piramide 17 low profile brakeless version, and the Piramide 21 medium profile brake friendly version. Both cost only $59……… Holy Cow!

The ever popular graphite Ruben pedals are back and now available in pretty shades of blue, green and brown……Ole’

Fly Alta stems are back along with the new front loading Baja stem. $69!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

New for 2012 are some new and improved versions of some Fly classics. The Dolmen cranks featuring investment cast technology and the re worked Fly front hubs. $220 & $99.

Last of all is the new Sergio Layos signature frame, the Trueno. Now Im not sure if Trueno is a Spanish word for something or maybe Sergio is a massive drift and initial D fan, either way this frame is nothing short of spectacular. Clean lines, investment cast dropouts, EBS removable brake hardware and a glossy paintjob that would make a grown man weep with happiness are what make this thing a thing of beuty and lust. $359 will get you this mean ass machine!

SANTA & MAD DOG

December 15th, 2011 by Tom

In Hell On Wheels land santa has well and truly come early. Some of the Maddogs finest wares are back in stock just in time for christmas . As you are probably well and truly aware by now , we are massive fans of anything S&M has ever and will ever do, and every thime we get a fresh batch of goodies it gets me pretty damn stoked to be doing what I am doing here at the shop. Naturally it made my day when our good friend Johnny Generic the courier driver dropped off this box of goods, hell, even Johnny Generic was stoked!

First up and back in stock is the world famous Challenger stem. Back in Black and looking classy. Back in the late 90s when I was racing every second weekend and riding the bowl at 5 Dock every day inbetween, I would have sold my soul for one of these. Ah the Challenger….all time classic.

If you like your bars largin and chargin then we have some big guns back in store. Hoders in black & chrome along with perfect 10s and some race XLTs all in Black or chrome , I mean what other colours would you have , really?

When our man Toby at Stowaway told me that they were getting thier hands on some of the last batch of Stricker frames to ever be produced , I jumped at the chance to grab one and here she is in all its big gappy, high speed, drunken strickery glory! 21″ and Black………. how could you possibly go wrong

Rounding off this box of goodies is the all new patch snap back cap, the ever popular and always awesome Salt lake Shake DVD and the classic retro padset. Man I almost want to buy all of this stuff for myself. I have always wanted a good padset just to show that I am old enough to have been around when people ran these things all the time. Ah the golden years eh.

PRETTY FLY FOR SOME SPANISH GUYS PT2

December 15th, 2011 by admin

The day has finally come! The long awaited Fly Bikes range of Trebol complete bikes are here and looking absolutely stunning. Much like We The People and United before them, Fly have raised the bar of quality complete bikes even higher. I mean these things are possibly the Oxford Dictionary meaning of the term “Legit”. Check out the specs on the products page for all the info on every nut and bolt. For now enjoy some sweet sweet eye candy!

The idea is simple. Have 3 different models, all at the same price, all with the same specs on components and differing in size and geometry of the frame and bars. Easy and radical! Pictured above is both colours in the Proton model, which is the big boy of the bunch.

Oh my word! This is a spectacular specimen of a serious stunt sickle! The Neutron pictured above and below these words is the mid sized bike aimed at the shorter folks and the ones who like to get thier tech on. With similar geometry to the ever popular Tierra frame the neutron is a serious contendor.

Just incase you were not already sold on these things, check out the video below which is sure to convince you of the awesomeness!

The best thing about all of this is that all of these are priced at $649!!!!!!! Holy cow!

WHEELIE BOARDS

December 15th, 2011 by Tom

As you are more than likely aware, Christmas is quite litterally around the corner. Lucky for us some fresh planks on wheels have arrived just in time for the mad rush. If you are into sliding rails , smashing down hills or just cruising about we have you covered.

First up are some new boards from those crazy folks at Blast. The cartoon, comic vibe could be under your feet for a very reasonable $139!

Gold Coast is a new brand for us here and you would be forgiven for thinking that they are from Queensland, fortunately for us and every one else they are not. This Californian based brand are really coming out with some tidy stuff and these boards named ” The Whizz” are a little victory for those who are looking for that 70s plastic/ fibreglass zephyr vibe without having to skate on something named after that chick from the big bang theory.

These are all class. Much lighter wieght than its competitors and with a slightly longer wheelbase, you will not be getting horrible death wobbles all the time. The aftermarket quality wheels, bearings and trucks are going to last through many a good shred sesh. Not a bad little weapon for only $175. Gold Coast will be dropping 2 new colours every other month so look out for those.

Last of all is the “Hanzo” named after the famous samurai sword from the kill bill movies. This little rocket has won my heart and i cant wait to own my own Hanzo very soon….. an X mas pressie for myself I think. $205

MIKE OF THE WEEK

December 11th, 2011 by Tom

When our buddy Scottish Mike asked me to order him a set of proper real ordinary slam bars a few months back I was impressed and excited that there are still people out there who know a good sized and good quality pair of handlebars when they see them. So I happily ordered them in for him, Mike then disapeared up to Bundaberg to do the tourist fruit picking thing for a few months. The slam bars sat here the whole time waiting for the scottsman with good taste to come back and claim them. Yesterday as i am closing the shop the mysterious Scotsman returned to claim his long lusted after handlebars. He also decided it was time for a new frame, fork, cranks , sprocket, chain and pedals. Get On! The end result is a mans bike worthy of riding the finest trails and parks out there.

An S&M Cam Wood frame, a set of Pitchfork XLTs, fresh profile cranks and a proudly Scottish BDS sprocket were a perfect choice!

Real Slam bars………8 x 28 is all you need kids!

Cant wait to get a session in with you and your new steed Mike!

TREATS

December 11th, 2011 by Tom

Our good friend Trent Rowsell has been a busy lad of late. Trent is a talented fella and has been crafting together a nice collection of denim inspired seat covers Under the Psycho Lovers name and they look amazing. Check out his new site here. Man I need one of these puppies.

Keep an eye out at 5 dock or Bondi for some of these in action. Go on Trent you legend!

FRESH AIR

December 7th, 2011 by Tom

I dont think I have been this excited about popping a new DVD in the player since Anthem II came out. Good local scene DVDs seem to have become thing of the past. In recent times the web edit seems to be where every rider with a camera has been focussing thier efforts, and thus leaving the DVD releases for the larger big budget jobs from big ol bike companies. So seeing a good group of friends making a DVD based around having a good time is a nice little change of pace. The TK crew have it all figured out, not just limiting its members to bike riders but also skaters, I mean it makes perfect sense, we all ride the same stuff and good dudes are just good dudes, no matter what they ride.

We are lucky enough to have a big pile of these suckers for sale and for only $15 to boot. Check out the trailer, get stoked, buy a copy, get even more stoked, then go for a good old fashioned fang!

OLD MAN FLYER

December 7th, 2011 by Tom

Holy smokes! SE have once again outdone themselves on the old school vibe. This time they have fully captured the soul of late 70s- early 80s BMX racing. Chrome upon more chrome. I hope the folk out there who are on the older side dont get offended by the fact that the OM in this bikes name does infact stand for ” Old Man”, either way this bike is a legit thrasher no matter what school you are form. Check out the specs here

Details, details, details. Every portion of this bike has had plenty of time and effort put into it. Yeehaaaaaw!.

LICE!!!!!

December 7th, 2011 by admin

I mean Vice!!!!!Once again I arrived at the shop to a neat little package on the doorstep. Hooray, more clever magazines read by annoying socially untrained “cool” people. The picture below illustrates my excitement.

So if you do make the journey down to the shop for the sole purpose of picking up one of these magazines, do not be affraid to make eye contact with me when I greet you with a hello. I know you are cool but that doesnt mean you have to be rude and awkward. see you soon then folks.

DEVOUT

December 7th, 2011 by Tom

We are now the proud stckists of local skate brand Devout. We have a couple of fine examples in stock and with rad graphics and with a low price tag of just $89 who are you to argue with that! Check them out.

So get yourself down to the Emu Plains drains today for what is set to be an absolute stomper, a banger and possibly even a rude boy! See you there!!!!

A RENOVATORS DELIGHT

December 1st, 2011 by Tom

Horray! It has been a pretty hectic 4 days here in the shop but I am proud to say that we are almost done and are 100% re open for business. Amidst all the 12 hour plus days, dirty 120 year old buildings and minor trades mans injuries we finally achieved a more solid result than we would have ever expected. A huge thanks to Will for working harder than anyone and for converting what my brain wanted into the real deal! Also thanks to Irish Ben, Andy the man Price, Holmes, Mike and a massive thanks to my dad Peter for all lending an extremly helpful hand.

The old shop once the bikes were taken down.

We managed a couple of hits on the vertwall but alas, it was a bit of an anti-climax. Turns out I am not the best builder of ramps.

Will ” Jack Of All Trades” Herrmann, visualising

The new look shop front looking woody and classy!

The best timber is free timber. Will built this amazing wall piece out of wood that had been in my dads old shed for many a moon. Danm ……the boy is talented!

I am no longer “the man out the back”. My new home is out the front.

Indeed!

One of the feature walls inside the ” Sophistocated Bicycle Emporium”, watch out for more and more stuff on the walls.

Bicycle emporium or complete bike room, the emporium name sounds way better!

Keep an out out as we still have plenty left to do.
