F##K YOU EDDIE, YOU TREAT ME LIKE ANIMAL!

Wednesday, March 21st, 2012

For those of you have not ever seen Eddie Murphies Raw show, then let this be an official warning as to the explicit content of this little skit. As for those who have seen it, you will recognize the title of this blog post and if all goes well you will find it hilarious and thus giggle for minutes on end! Wait for it at 2.10.

As great as it would be for me to post amazing comedy skits all day, it would not be very productive of me would it? Moving on to the main point of this post…….. New ANIMAL bits have arrived!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fresh out of New York is the new Animal Kenmare backpack. Simple clean and stitched in the USA, these handsome holders of things are a very tempting choice for the backpack enthusiast. $99. Many of you will also be very happy to learn that the now very famous and extremely intelligently designed Animal Kotulak tools are back in stock after a brief hiatus. Hazzahhhh!!!

I know how all you kids love a good snapback cap and the holy grail of snapbacks has returned once again to accessorise your head in the best way possible. The Animal Pollio is here and ready to rollio…….. $49.

Last of all we have two items of Animal hadrware that no bike in the world can function without. A rear hub and a sprocket. The Javelin cassette hub has proven itself against the big boys of the hub world since its release last year and is a mighty choice for any one on the look out for a new rear clicker! The Vinnie Salmon designed Sprocky Balboa not only has the best name of any BMX product in history, but it is also a pretty darn fine piece of drive train equipment. $79.

1983

Sunday, March 18th, 2012

1983 was the year before I was born, it was also the year BMX Bandits was released and what a release that was. I still pop it on every other month for a laugh. Saw this floating around the internet today and was pretty damn stoked!!!

But not quite as stoked as I am on my signed copy of the DVD. Goose was always my favourite character anyhow!

” It doesnt get X rated till I was 12″ Oh goose you are so rad!

THURSDAY NIGHT STREET FIGHT

Sunday, March 18th, 2012

There is no denying that being out and about in the city at night with your bike and a large group of like minded individuals is one of the coolest and funnest things in the universe. This past Thursday Hell On Wheels hosted a night of bicycle fun. The Killjoy DVD premiere and Ghetto long jump comp went down an absolute treat with around 35 excited bike riders in attendance.

The DVD did not disappoint and delivered some of the most creative and burly riding ever, needless to say the punters were impressed and every single copy of the DVD sold as soon as the TV was switched off!

I think we now have the on street bike parking system well and truly dialed in much to the distaste of many King St automobile parking spot shoppers. Once everyone was well and truly psyched up from the visual delights of Killjoy, it was off to the secret ghetto longjump location in a large and rowdy convoy. Once at the spot we were greeted with some fierce winds to shake up the competition a little bit.

With a few bets laid down and a smaller than anticipated cash jackpot, the warriors of speed and distance cranked violently towards the lumpy roundabout launch pad in an attempt to beat some kind of non existent record. Here James Picalou does his best to out gun the rest of the warriors. Unfortunately for every one else jumping, Will Herrmann showed up with his 33-10 gear ratio and proceeded to set the record early on, leaving the rest to chase down his distance. Needless to say no body had what it took to take the crown from Will. Well done old bean! After the police decided to shut down the long jump, a crew of energetic riders ventured further into the depths of our fine city for another late night city shred fest with a dozen of Sydneys hardcores not returning home until almost 2am. A big thanks to everyone who attended for helping to make the night as amazing as it was! Cheers to Paul Kim for the rad long jump pic. Expect more rad shots of the shenanigans soon.

BIG OL BOX FULL O GOODS

Tuesday, March 13th, 2012

This morning I was greeted at the door by a refreshingly cheerful delivery man. Delivery drivers are usually anti social at best so to have one full of smiles was a delight to say the least. Maybe the man is a BMX fan and some how knew what was lurking within the boxes in his hands. As soon as I opened this grand box filled to the brim with the things fantasies are made of, I assumed that the driver did know of its contents as I too had my mood instantly uplifted once the packing tape had been cut and the box opened.

Inside was a bounty of luscious new S&M gear! To top that off our homie Jamie down at Stowaway even wrote me a ghetto box message, what a legend! Great times indeed.

S&M softgoods never seem to disappoint, I think that may actually be impossible. Here we have a newscool version of one of the most timeless T- shirts in BMX history ………. the legendary big Shield tee in full OG S&M colours. Available in store right now in White, black or green! Then we have a couple of fresh designs which look radder than rad its self! The Guts Tee and the Faster Than Death Tee are here and waiting to meet your back.

It seems the fashionable snap back cap is here to stay. Here is the item description for this hat from our online store. ” Classic and full of class. If you ride BMX and dont want to own this hat then the time has come for you to start riding scooters.” Wow what more needs to be said about this incredible item of headwear other than buy a good hat like this and not a crappy ugly one like our boy Harry did………….

………… Oh Dear.

Last and absolutely no where even anywhere near least , we have a little re stock on some favourites. The Challenger stem( otherwise known as th best stem in BMX history ) is back once again along with some tidy 25t versions of the amazing L7 Spline Drive sprocket. Get in and check it all out YEWWW!!!!

E.O.D.S.J

Tuesday, March 13th, 2012

It pains me to inform the masses that the end of Daylight savings is upon us once again. Although the horrible thoughts of short days and darkness lurk in the back of our minds it is not all bad, as once again we get to celebrate the good times with yet another jam at the best damn park around! The best part of the End Of Daylight Savings Jam is not the endless smiles or the amazing riding or even the prizes nor the BBQ. There are actually two main attractions which will make you get your good self down to Fivedock on the 31st. The first one being the man,the myth and the legend that is Xavier Koen ruling the microphone keeping us psyched and telling us whats up. The second main attraction of the jam is the running of the now infamous Deathbowl! This year marks the 4th year of Deathbowl, so bring your courage and stick those elbows out!

As the date draws nearer more amazing aspects about the day will be revealed. Stay tuned!!!!!

KILLJOY IS COMMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Friday, March 9th, 2012

That is correct folks.
Following the same lines as our amazing Carpark race the other week, we are holding yet another last minute night of Bicycle fun.
This time around we will be showing the much talked about and long awaited Killjoy DVD in the store at around 8pm. Then once we are all well and truly excited by the sights and sounds of the DVD we will all make the short pedal down to the secret ghetto long jump facility where records will be broken and some cash will be won. If you wish to have a crack at the long jump, it is a $5 buy in with the winner taking all!!!! On street bike parking will be available once again. See you all there!

Gear up if your gonna show up!!!!

CHUNITED

Thursday, March 8th, 2012

Those cheeky Englishmen are at it again. United keep pumping out the goodies and dont they look they look splendid.

The all new version of Nathan Williams already popular Mothership frame is here and my word is it tidy! It features a whole stack of neat little improvements from its last incarnation. For all the juice and specs click this word.

Hot on the investment cast fork train are Uniteds new Deniro forks, looking lean and mean and ready to make your bike that much radder.

United have also revamped the Stay Strong Pivotal seat for 2012 and looks the goods. If you do not know about the whole stay strong cause head here. Its all about helping out a fellow rider in need and the fact that United got involved and are doing their bit just shows for one how rad they are and secondly how strong the worldwide BMX community really is and that makes me smile.

Geoff Slattery is possibly one of the baddest dudes on a BMX of all time. Geoffs line of signature parts fall under the Voyage name and they are all pretty damn good and this time around we got a fresh batch of his bars in a sleek Saturn black- saucy! These things are everything a good set of bars should be and If you dont like them, then Geoff will do a big old table on your face!!

Yeah Geoff you wildman you.

HOFFMAN

Wednesday, March 7th, 2012

OK kiddies time for for a wee bit of education. I’m sure many of you have heard of Matt Hoffman and are aware of many of the contributions he has made to BMX over the years, but many do not know the magnitude of how important his contributions have been. He is a living legend and I think every rider out there owes him a high five and a couple of beers. This is why it brings a great smile to my face that the Hoffman Bike brand is finally being distributed by a real, rider owned distributor. Kickass BMX are now looking after this legendary brand here in OZ. Now that they have a reputable and reliable distributor, Hell On Wheels are now stocking the 2012 range of Hoffman bikes. Check out our stock here.
Now back to a little bit of education. We all know Tom Dugan is a freaking badass who can air higher than pretty much any one else but no body has got anything on this……..

Keep in mind this pic was taken pretty much 20 years ago, on a ramp made mostly out of scrap timber, riding a bike that easily weighs in at around double that of todays modern featherweight machines. Holy Shite!!!! Im sure you would rather watch a video about this mythical creature than read the garbage that I would type about him instead. So without further ado I present all 6 parts of ” The Birth Of Big Air”. This is a must watch for every rider out there. So put the kettle on, make some tea, grab some biscuits and sit your self down and watch!!!

………………. Amazing!

STUFF

Tuesday, March 6th, 2012

It has been a little while since my last post and for that I apologize. Not a whole lot has been going on in and around old Sydney town of late due to the horrific weather we have been experiencing. Although many our fine customers have been keeping my hands busy with many a custom wheelbuild.

As you may have noticed I have stepped into the 21st century ( reluctantly I may add! ) and got myself a fancy technology phone which has the capacity to take good photos and the ability to post them online via Facebook or hipstergram. So expect many more faded and filtered pics to be coming your way.Custom wheel builds are possibly one of my favourite things about being a bicycle mechanic, your wheels are one of the most important parts of your bike and putting your own ideas and personal touches on your wheel set to make them exactly how you want them is a pretty satisfying thing. So if you are thinking of spicing your bike with some fresh hoops and hubs give me your ideas and Il make it happen for you.

I enjoy wheel building so much that I decided lacing a replacement motorized electric front hub for a customer was a brilliant idea. Let me be the first to tell you that I loved every minute of it!

Next on the agenda this deceptively sunny Tuesday are a couple of must see web videos, and when I say must see i mean it. They have each been floating around the web for about a week already and it doesn’t matter if you have seen it before then simply watch them again, you know its worthy.

Anthem II Declassified – Brian Foster from FITBIKECO. on Vimeo.

Fit – Trippin Ecuador from FITBIKECO. on Vimeo.

No explanations are needed for either of these videos, but if you need any convincing to actually click on them all I can say is prepare to be dazzled…… ANTHEM and FIT and the Blue Bloody Falcon !!!!!!!! EPIC is the only word!

BICYCLES & HORSES

Friday, March 2nd, 2012

Bikes and horses have more in common than you may think. First of all to ride either of these modes of transport comfortably, the use of a saddle is highly recommended. If you were in need of a new saddle for your horse then perhaps a visit to an establishment such as this would be on the cards……

The Hell On Wheels of the Horse world? Maybe! If on the other hand you are after a classy new saddle for your BMX Bicycle on the other hand, then we have you well and truly covered.

In this particular situation it may become known that S&M does in fact stand for ” saddles & horses “, the ever classic Saddles & Horses slim railed seat is back in stock and ready to add a touch of style and class to your handsome steed. If the pivotal seat system is your preferred taste and you ride your bike further than to the skatepark and back then you may be interested in of these ” Long Johnson” pivotal posts. 320 mm long and ready to roll along with you on those lengthy rides.

The second thing that riding horses and riding Bicycles have in common is the need for a helmet to protect the riders head if they are unfortunate enough to meet with some kind of accidental misfortune.

The now staple part of BMX skatepark fashion, the Protec Full cut is back and now available in white as well as black. Hooray!!!!

The most used helmet in the BMX and skate world, the Pro Tec classic is back in stock once more in all its usual colours and sizes. To shake things up a bit Pro Tec have introduced this swell new Matte Red colourway and it is lookin swish indeed.

Until bicycles and horses can be ridden together on the same level then we will just have to do what this legendary person pictured below has done…YEWWWWW

THAT’S TERRIBLE MURIAL!!!

Wednesday, February 29th, 2012

OH snap!!!! We just got a whole mess of Terrible One tees, and let me be the first to tell you that i am so damn excited about these shirts that i may just buy them all for my self!

A fine selection of threads from one of the raddest rider owned companies in the known universe and for only $39 a pop you can be certain that your money is not going towards funding Johnny Business executive’s new Ferrari, but it is going back into BMX where it belongs.

Aside from T1 being an amazing company, im not sure there are many bike company owners capable of blasting like Joe Rich…. Dang! Lets see Johnny executive bust this kind of action is his shitty Ferrari!
Just in case you needed more proof that T1 is unbelievably radical then get a load of these inspirational works of genius by sir Joe Rich himself. Do yourself a favour and watch all of these back to back…….. its raining and a bit useless outside so you may as well! Enjoy

MIDNIGHT COWBOYS

Sunday, February 26th, 2012

So the first ever Hell On Wheels Inner Westside Gran Prix has been run and won in spectacular a fashion. As the sun was thinking about setting, 40 or so eager bike enthusiasts converged on the store to view the New Federal DVD .

Day quickly turned into night and the people were so eager to get the race carnage happening that many couldn’t sit still for the length of the DVD and just had to get moving. Once the sun had well and truly set we all set off on a 40 strong convoy down to the secret location in which the race would take place. I dont know about you but being amongst that many bike riders on a charge up the main drag is possibly one of the greatest things in the universe.

The on street bike parking system worked a treat for us but it was to the distaste of many a King St restaurant patron as we were taking up one whole and extremely valuable parking space.
Once at the carpark for the race, under the assumption that security would be on us in a matter of minutes, we got in, raced, then raced again then got the hell out! With every one who entered the race throwing down a fiver to add to the cash jackpot the winner would be taking home, the atmosphere was rife with enthusiasm and excitement. The racers gathered on the top level behind the chalk drawn start line ready for battle. At the bottom of 12 levels there were only a couple of riders whos chances at the money were shattered in a slippery surfaced crash. At the finish line it was North shore Fufanu expert and ex Pro BMX race Brendan Jones who rolled away with the $150, not bad for 40 odd seconds of work in a carpark at 10pm on a Thursday night! With the group still charging from all the amazing energy that was floating around, and the fact that there was no sign of any form of authority, Mr Jones put out the challenge for another race offering up a brand new pair of shoes to the winner. So back to the top the soldiers went, this time I opted to have them all run a Le Mans style start where they had to run down a level to get to their bikes before setting off down the course. This time around it was current pro racer legend Benny Hidalgo who took the checkered flag.

A triumphant Brendan Jones!

From here the large group rode the streets of Sydney till the wee hours of the morning. A roaring success of an evening! Expect a full edit from Lord John Young in the coming weeks as well as more late night riding related shenanigans very soon. Real Talk!

RUSSELL HAT FACE

Saturday, February 25th, 2012

Do you all remember Sam, AKA Russ, AKA Hat Master Flash? Well Sam has been putting in the hours on his bike and has clocked up quite a burly reel of stunts for us to gander at. Recently whilst filming for the very edit you are about to watch, Sam had a bit of a bingle and managed to tear his ACL in a spectacular way. Armed with a single speed roadie and an ever growing hat collection, Sam is on the mend and will be shredding again soon. Check it out.
