FRANKENSCHWINN

Friday, May 28th, 2010

No it is not an exotic German sausage, its a fun transformation of both bike and workshop. After yet another washed out ride attempt we decided to stick around here and expend our energy in otherways. Whilst Dave got busy on the workshop wall masterpiece I converted a humble Schwinn 14 speed comfort roadie into ……something.

For those who dont know, employee of the universe Dave C is quite a talent with the paints and pens and such. Even before he worked here I wanted him to decorate my workshop area, and its all  now coming together. This big green frankie is pure genius on the cockney peepers. The Schwinn on the other hand is something else. Campag Omega rims laced to Shimano 105 hubs? Redline mini cruiser bars and a short reach BMX stem on a roadie? One rear brake ? All I can say is dont knock it till you ride it. Pure comfort!

All the added colour makes for ma much nicer place to be when wrenching up a storm, next time you pop in be sure to suss ol frankie out.

After being sold out of this hot little item for some time, the Fit 2010 Mike Aitken Signature bike is now back on the market. Thanks to a customer deciding he would rather join the army than ride one of the sweetest rides out there, this beast is looking for a new owner. To sweeten the deal further the price has dropped from $1079 all the way down to $899.

Tan bike with tan wall tyres…pure class is all I can say here.

I cant see this thing being here for long so lace up them skates and get down here pronto.

HELL ON WHEELS BMX RACE TEAM ?

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

As much as our man Xave Koens definition of BMX of  “Bloody Muthaf%#@!g Xtreme ” is simply amazing ,it still does actually stand for Bicycle Motocross, and real motocross at that not the hideous Metal Mulisha , Crusty Demons vibe most are exposed to these days. Dudes racing their bikes on sweet dirt tracks getting sideways and bashing into each other, the good stuff. Racing may not be everyones cup of tea but the sport has come along way in the last few years. Most of the reasons for me quitting racing when I was 16 have since disappeared from the sport ( with the exception of clippy pedals!).

I am proud to announce that long time Hell On Wheels supporter and current Australian number 2 in the junior elite mens class, Benny Hidalgo has joined the family. Ben scored a sweet factory sponsorship with long time BMX parts company Crupi, and we are excited to be hooking him up the best we can with a co sponno type deal. The quest was to make a modern race machine look less gimmicky and more like a real BMX should look. NO CARBON!!!

No extra tubes or wacky angles here. As freestyle parts have gotten progressively stronger and lighter than ever, they can easily be used on race bikes and add no extra weight. This baddie is equipped with Fit Shiv forks, Proper Bike co rims ,stem and bars and fancy ION purple double butted spokes! Easily the fastest custom build to come out of the workshop here.

Needless to say Ben is super psyched on his new race machine. We did well and he has been saved from the carbon clad rigs of his past as seen below.

Welcome aboard Benny. Look out for this kid in his blue Datto Ute, if you see him tell him to loose the clips…YEW!

Imagine how much better this pic would be if he was on the new beast.Check the vid below for Ben in the finals of the Australian titles just the other week, he is the dude in the red on the inside. RAD!

WETHEPEOPLE’S FOR YOUTHEPERSON

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

We have just built up some new Wethepeople completes, which is a great way for Tom to pass on his mechanical genius to our work experience recruits, Will and Julian. It also means we have some quality complete bikes at an awesome discount price. Here the boys lament upon how rad they could get, if only they owned propeller caps and a shiny new BMX.

The Justice is now just $625, down from $699

The versus is down from $955 to just $899

And the ever popular Trust, down from $1049 to $955. The workshop Donkey can’t handle the Bargains!!

OH DEAR!

Employee of the century Dave demonstrating why he is just that.
