HUBBA HUBBA!

Saturday, April 10th, 2010

That title was so horrible that it is actually awesome! Couple of hot and happy hubs have turned up this week and they are snazzy little numbers.

First up is the long awaited Tree Bikes front hub. Designed without a flange and utilising the straight pull spoke system, this hub  pretty much solves the age old problem of ruining your hub flanges and snapping the ends off spokes whilst grinding. It also has a 17mm hollow aluminium internal axle with high grade 3/8 axle studs. Although it looks unconventional this hub was built for heavy peg usage.

Here is one i prepared earlier on our boy Matts bike. These tech treats can be all yours for $210.

Next up is profiles new Totem hubs. Using profiles proven internal hardware found on the old mini hubs, these tasty treats have a new smoother hub shell which shaves precious milligrams. Next time you are in store check out these fine examples of BMX technology, and whatever you do, dont let me use the term HUBBA HUBBA again, once is enough.

PK FIXER!

Saturday, April 10th, 2010

SE Racings second version of the PK Ripper fixed gear has arrived at Hell On Wheels. This bike is specd up the wazoo. It is quite the neat package for only $1149! A modern, tech fixed gear with the soul of a legendary BMX bike seems like quite a tempting prospect to me. It features Velocities new and super strong Chukker rims laced up to some nice sealed high flange hubs, 48 spline BMX style cranks with a sealed euro BB, Vittoria Randonneur tyres for extra long life that will last after all those sweet ass skids you will be doing, it also has the super popular Oury grips.

Perry Kramer would be so proud. It even come with a sweet toptube pad so you can make like young Dave here and carry your stylish new rig on your shoulder like the soldier you are.

Look at that eyebrow action, who are you to resist such charm.

Some awesome footage, big thanks to Evan Daines for compiling such a perfect edit. The description “a totally sketchy edit of a drunken blurry bmx baddy filled day”. My favourite quote is at 2:51. “Arggh the Face!”

BURRITOS = FREE PRODUCTS!

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

Need some new plastic pedals? Maybe a fresh set of grips would be more your thing? All I know is I desperately want a Burrito! Tom and I live off these delicious mexican flavour-houses, and if you can supply each of us with the CORRECT guzman y gomez burrito/coke combo, you will be the happy owner of some shiny new grips and/or plastic pedals..

To make it official you should call through just to check we haven’t already loaded up on some mexican glory, and if we have yet to get our lunch you could easily be swapping burritos for products :)

The Burritos in question are pictured, complete with up-close descriptions of fillings ;)

This is a Tom Boorman Special, Chicken Guerro, with NO cheese, NO beans! Keep your lactose and pulses to yourself!

I however, am a massive fan of cheese and beans. I am also a big Guacamole and Chilli fan so ADD Guac and Habanero!

So remember, call through and check, and don’t forget the coke! Muck up our order and there’ll be trouble :D

CHROLMES!

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

You may remember a post of mine a few months back about S&Ms reissue of the original Holmes frame and how excited I was to get my hands on one of the frame and fork kits. Well the day finnaly came where I finished putting him together and to say that im super psyched on it is a rather large understatement. In my 15 years of riding BMX this is my first full on chrome bike as well as my first S&M ( retarded huh,as it has been one of my favourite companies since the start). With the exception of the rims ( proper 48s) every part is era correct or within 2 0r 3 years of 1992.

GT mallet stem is a repro Malaysian job of ebay, as i had more chance of finding one of these than an original shafted Redneck stem. Got to love all that chrome!

Chris Moeller is bloody rad, and he should be credited for starting one of if not the first rider owned bike companies that has stood the test of time.

STRAWBERRY JAM!

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

The 2nd annual Hell On Wheels 5 dock jam has been and gone, as has another year of daylight savings. All i can say is a big ass thank you to everybody who came out and had fun. Some amazing riding went down but i think the best part of the day was the general fun vibe that hung around all day. No silly competitive attitudes just smiles all day. Our man Xave Koen needs to be credited once more for his amazingly funny microphone skills, if you have never witnessed the pure comedic genius that is Xave then you have not lived. Xave was also the first person to pull the gap through the V tree..Yeah BOY!
Thanks again to Dave C, Mike D and Holmes for helping make the day rad. Thanks also to Andy, Matt M and Kev for helping with the BBQ.
Stay tuned for lots of pics and some small web edits of the day.For now here is a couple of pics of the radness.

Trail boss Trent Blasting out of the old bowl during the Deathbowl session. If have ever ridden this thing you will know just how incredible this air is. A big thanks to Matt Mead for this shot.

Just a sneak peak of the most amazing event ever…The DEATHBOWL!!! Try fit as many people into 5 docks old bowl at one time (most brakeless) and see what happens. All i can say is that it is entertaining! Cheers to Kev for this pic.

HAPPY TUESDAY!

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

JUST A REMINDER!

Friday, April 2nd, 2010

That we will be closed Saturday (tomorrow), Sunday and Monday. But never fear, there’ll be entertainment galore tomorrow at our very own ‘End of Daylight Savings Jam’. Expect some chronic weirdness and commentary courtesy of the Hell On Wheels team members Alex and Xave. Gnarly Mountain breeds…
