Chicks dig BMX…
Friday, November 28th, 2008BMX Bandit 25th Anniversary
Wednesday, November 26th, 2008Regardless of date changes, pouring rain and gale force winds, we carted our 80’s inspired goliath of a ramp to Manly beach for the 25th anniversary of BMX Bandits. While many bailed on crossing the bridge due to the shithouse weather, a select few ‘core old and new school rippers made the day a rocking one that we intend to make (somehow) an annual event.
With most of the mornings action taking place under cover (or in the pub), the mid afternoon saw a reprive from the rain and a quarter pipe jam got underway that was to put simply, a damn good time. Which is what this whole BMX thing is about. Fuck the politics, fashions and shit talk, Freestyle is alive and well on these shores and spans multiple generations now. Thanks to Paul Begg, 2020 and Hell on Wheels, the Bandit day came together in pure punk rock, freestyle fashion.

Tom Boorman blasted the ramp bigger than anyone, Damon had more old school stories than anyone and Nigel Begg got back on a BMX for the 1st time in possibly 20 years which was rad.
We’ve got signed copies of BMX Bandits (signed by none other than Goose: James Lugton) and 25th anniversary tshirts left from the day for sale in store, so come on in.
So it’s been 25 years of people yelling ‘BMX Bandit’ at me from their shitheap commodores, it sure feels longer!
